5 Tips for Cruising from Orlando

With Port Canaveral located just 45 minutes east of Orlando, planning the perfect Florida vacation is a breeze. Orlando is most famous for it’s endless attractions, extensive shopping and thriving nightlife. If you’re setting sail from Port Canaveral, why not extend your vacation to take advantage of all these enjoyable activities? Besides, if you’re flying in, chances are that you’ll be arriving at Orlando International Airport anyways. Or even if you’re driving, it may be worth it to make a pit stop in the city before embarking on your cruise. These 5 tips will help you make the most of your Orlando cruise vacation.

1. Visit the Theme Parks.

theme parks are popular to do before cruising from orlando

Millions of tourists travel to Central Florida every year to experience Orlando’s theme parks. If you’re already in Orlando, you might as well double the adventure on your vacation and tack on a couple adrenaline-pumping days. With the vast amount of Orlando attractions, the possibilities are endless. By visiting any of Orlando’s theme parks in the area, you can fit two unforgettable vacations in one. We recommend starting off your trip with a thrilling theme park visit and then using your cruise to recover and unwind. It’s the perfect blend of recreation and relaxation. If you’re interested in combining your Port Canaveral cruise with a visit to the theme parks, we suggest you plan to stay in Orlando a couple days before your cruise. 2. Do Some Shopping.

Looking to partake in some retail therapy? With locations like the Premium Outlets, Mall at Millenia, Winter Park Village, Florida Mall and more, Orlando is a shopper’s paradise. If you’re looking to get some shopping done before or after your cruise, make sure you check out any one of those retail hotspots. You can even conveniently book a room inside The Florida Mall with Go Port’s Florida Hotel package. The Florida Hotel is one of the area’s most luxurious hotels and is a destination all on it’s own. The Florida Mall in particular is great for all ages. You can keep the little ones entertained with the Crayola Experience, M&Ms World, the Disney Store and the American Girl Store while you enjoy all the other retail shopping and on-site dining the mall has to offer.

3. Check Out the Nightlife.

Even after all the theme parks and malls close, Orlando keeps the party going. There are plenty of nightlife options including Downtown Orlando, International Drive, City Walk and Disney Springs. Have some laughs at SAKs Comedy Club, listen to some local talent at Howl at the Moon Piano Bar, sing some karaoke at Rising Star, or dance the night away at the House of Blues. If you’re one to hit the town when the sun goes down, these places are definitely worth checking out. Don’t miss out on an unforgettable evening. Stay an extra night in Orlando with a Go Port Fly Snooze Cruise or Snooze Park Cruise package.

4. Park for Free.

Don’t pay those high cruise terminal parking fees. If you’re driving into Port Canaveral, you can get free cruise parking by booking a cruise transfer. Cruise transfers are the transportation to and from the cruise ship terminals. When you book a cruise transfer, you can park your car for free in a nearby lot and a shuttle will pick you up and take you to the proper terminal. When you return from your cruise, another shuttle will bring you back to your car. Cruise transfers are a lot less expensive than paying for parking by the day at the cruise terminal or other affiliated lots. You can set up a transfer with Go Port for a one-time fee of $10 per person (2 person minimum). Parking at the cruise terminal can cost upwards of $160 for a 10 day cruise. You can save some significant cash by booking a cruise transfer that will only cost you $20 for two people on the same 10 day cruise. Go Port’s Snooze Park Cruise hotel packages also include free parking. So save yourself some money, never pay for parking at Port Canaveral.

5. Don’t Miss Your Cruise.

Travel mishaps occur constantly and you don’t want to risk missing your cruise. Save yourself the stress of worrying about flight delays or traffic jams and book a Go Port hotel package. If you’re flying in, you can book a Fly Snooze Cruise package including your hotel stay, airport transportation and cruise transfers for as little as $96. If you’re driving in, a Snooze Park Cruise package is the right fit for you. We’ll take care of all your pre and post cruise accommodations so you don’t have to worry about your vacation setting sail without you.
