What Does Offsite Cruise Parking Mean?

offsite cruise parking port canaveral

We get this question all the time and for good reason. Offsite cruise parking means that you are not parking at Port Canaveral for the duration of your cruise and instead are parking nearby. Offsite parking quality ranges from remote un-patrolled lots all the way up to indoor parking garages. Both of these parking lots would be referred to as offsite cruise parking because they fit two criteria:

  1. The lot is not located at the port
  2. You can park there for the duration of your cruise

The lot could also be very far from the port. Whether a mile away or 15 miles away, if you can park there for the duration of your cruise, it’s “offsite cruise parking”.

With that in mind we created a list of questions to help travelers identify the best offsite cruise parking when researching online or calling the parking company for more information.

  1. How far from the Port is the cruise parking?

This may or may not be important to you. It will really come down to how comfortable you are riding a shared shuttle for a longer period of time and how quickly you want to hit the road back home.

  2. Is cruise transfer (round-trip shuttle to the port) included in the price for ALL travelers?

Often times cruise transfers are included for only 2 people and there is an extra charge for additional passengers. In some cases cruise transfer is not included at all and you will have to fork out the extra fee after parking your car.

  3. Is the parking lit at night?

Offsite cruise parking can be a target for vehicle burglary, burglars know the cars at the lots will be there for 3-14 days and, even if the lot is patrolled, the cover of darkness is a huge advantage to thieves. Always go for a lit parking lot.

  4. Is the parking lot staffed outside of regular parking hours?

This is another great feature for vehicle theft prevention. Cruise parking tends to be busy only on embarkation days from 7am-12pm. Passengers debark between 7am and 10am and the new guests board before noon. Having eyes on your vehicle outside embarkation hours is a huge theft deterrent. Offsite lots that are lit at night and patrolled or have video surveillance boast fewer car burglary incidents.

  5.  Is the lot gated?

Like lit lots, gated lots also tend to have lower crime rates. The downside is that if the lot is not staffed outside of embarkation hours you may not be able to drop off or pick your car up after noon.

  6. Offsite Cruise Parking Price

Offsite cruise parking is generally cheaper than parking at the port. The price can range from $5.95/day to as much as $14/day.

Offsite Cruise Parking Holy Grail

Based on the above list most people conclude that the winning mix is a lot that is: close to the port, includes cruise transfers, and is lit and monitored. Here at Go Port we agree! We strive to offer the safest and most convenient offsite cruise parking. We have cruise parking that is lit and monitored,  located only 11 minutes from the Port.  Our price is the lowest in town at $5.95/day and our parking packages include round-trip cruise transfers for all travelers, shuttles run continuously from the Port until noon.
