Stay Connected: Internet Packages By Cruise Line

A cruise is a dream getaway, but there are some things you don’t want to disconnect from. Whether you took a selfie in the Bahamas and need to post it on Instagram or you simply need to send an email, cruise lines have internet packages for everyone’s needs.

Carnival Cruise Line

Cruise Ship

Social WiFi Plan is Carnival’s most basic plan, only including access to specific social media outlets. You’ll be able to use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and the most popular airline websites. However, this plan doesn’t include access to other websites, email, or video/music streaming services, such as Netflix or Spotify. If social media is your thing, so is this plan.

Price:
Pre-cruise price: $10.20/day
Onboard price: $12/day
Onboard price for a 24-hour plan: N/A

Value WiFi Plan includes all social media sites from the previous plan, as well as e-mail, news, entertainment, sports, weather, banking, and finance websites. The speed is also much faster than the Social WiFi Plan. You’ll need to put away Facetime and Netflix as this plan does not support video and music streaming services.

Price:
Pre-cruise price: $14.45/day
Onboard price: $17/day
Onboard price for a 24-hour plan: $20

Premium WiFi Plan is the highest tier available and includes everything under the Social and Value Plan at 3x the speed. Want to brag to your bestie who couldn’t come? With this plan, you can Skype (no Facetime sorry Apple users!) them at any time. This plan also supports Zoom and Teams video calls for your meetings. Like all of Carnival’s plans, this does not support video and music streaming services.

Price:
Pre-cruise price: $17/day
Onboard price: $20/day
Onboard price for a 24-hour plan: $30

If you realize on the ship that you prefer a different plan than what you originally purchased, you can always upgrade from one plan to another. Keep in mind, though, you’ll save the most money by buying before your cruise- up to 15% more.

Disney Cruise Line’s new Internet plans are now based on the type of usage, versus the old measured data plans such as paying for 1GB of internet. The package tiers are Stay Connected, Basic Surf, and Premium Surf. The internet can be bought daily or for your entire voyage, but there is no discount if you pay in advance. It should also be noted that the below pricing is for one device only; additional charges apply for more devices. Here are the details of the three current plans.

Stay Connected is the most affordable plan that allows you to send texts and pictures on most popular sites and apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Tumblr. However, this plan does not cover web surfing,  accessing emails, and video-streaming on platforms like Hulu, Netflix, etc.

Price:
Starting from $12/day

Basic Surf is the plan that gives you all the mentioned access of the Stay Connect plan, while also letting you surf the web, read the news, check the weather, make audio calls, send and receive emails. Binge-watching shows will have to wait because this plan does not support long-form video-streaming platforms like Netflix or Hulu.

Price:
Starting from $24/day

Premium Surf is the plan with the fastest connection speed and includes all access to the previous tier plans. You can video call on platforms such as Zoom, FaceTime, and more. Stream your favorite tunes and podcasts on Spotify or Apple Music, and even stream short-form videos on Youtube, TikTok, and Snapchat. Please note, this plan does not support long-form video streaming platforms such as Netflix and Hulu.

Price:
Starting from $36/day
