Port Canaveral Plans to Welcome Carnival Mardi Gras On June 4th

The Carnival Mardi Gras will finally be arriving in Port Canaveral in less than 24 hours! On Friday, June 4th, the Mardi Gras will be escorted into the port by two other Carnival ships, the Carnival Liberty and Carnival Freedom. She is expected to sail past Jetty Park by 6:15 AM and then proceed to the Middle Turning Basin, where she will turn around and head towards Cruise Terminal 3 by 7:00 AM. Visitors are welcome to view the Mardi Gras’ arrival from Jetty Park or The Cove district.

The Mardi Gras arrival will be a very special event as Carnival announced it expects thousands of fans to attend. Carnival President Christine Duffy and Port Canaveral CEO John Murray will be officially welcoming the Mardi Gras to her new home with welcoming remarks around 9:15 AM.

This will be an unforgettable moment for Carnival Cruise Line as the Mardi Gras is one of their most anticipated ships ever. She’s Carnival’s biggest and best ship yet with a capacity of up to 6,500 passengers and weighs over 180,000 tons. Her 20 decks with six themed zones are filled with one-of-a-kind features that have set an entirely new standard of innovation for cruises to come. The Mardi Gras will house the first roller coaster at sea as well as Carnival’s largest waterpark, new celebrity chef restaurants, and more. On top of all these incredible new additions, she will also be recognized as the first North-American-based cruise line to operate on liquified natural gas which is a more eco-friendly fuel alternative. The Carnival Mardi Gras is making a big splash in the cruise industry this year and will offer 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries year-round sailing out of Port Canaveral.
