Port Canaveral—On January 16, 2016 the Cove in Port Canaveral will be hosting the fifth annual Florida Key Lime Pie Festival from 10 AM to 6 PM. The event is brought to you by the Florida Key Lime Pie Company and will celebrate all aspects of the state’s official dessert, as well as the ingredient that lends to its name. Additional uses for key limes will be on display at the best bartender competition’s Key Lime Margarita Challenge, as well as a key lime hot sauce competition.
Those who want to save their citrus consumption for dessert can avail themselves of the fare from sponsoring restaurants like Fishlips, Rusty’s, and Barrier Jack’s. The multiple craft beer and fruit wine tastings should complement your food nicely. The contest for the coveted title of Miss Key Lime Pie should be a hard fought one. The thoroughbred hermit crab races, live music, and cooking demonstrations will provide entertainment for the whole family. Of special interest is the world championship hula hoop demonstrations that will be happening once an hour. Local artists will be on display at an artisan promenade that will feature local crafts and local painters.
Once again the event is being brought to you for the fifth year by the Florida Key Lime Pie Company. They’re located in Cocoa Beach off of A1A. They serve up key lime pie in a cup for those on the go, as well as by the slice, and entire boxed pies. They also have a variety of cheesecakes both in traditional flavors like chocolate and vanilla bean, as well as more adventurous flavors like mango and guava. Definitely worth checking out while you’re in town.
Festival admission is $10 for adults, and $5 for children $12 and under. Kids 4 and under are admitted for free. It will be taking place at Port Canaveral’s Exploration Tower. Scurvy is not invited, and you can leave the Vitamin C at home.
